*This book was purchased by myself. I bought it only as a consumer, and this will be my honest opinion of the work.
If there was ever a book that directly spoke to my heart, it’s this one. This book has 25 beautiful patterns created from either self-striping yarn or mini skeins. The cover features a magnificent pair of rainbow-striped fingerless mitts that immediately caught my eyes as I browsed through Amazon.
The book features many colorful and vibrant patterns, displaying rainbows of colors. If you enjoy looking at beautiful knitwear pictures, this book serves that purpose quite well —with brilliant photos that showcase a wide variety of patterns.
Types of Patterns included in this Book:
There are five different types of patterns inside this book: mittens, hats, cowls, shawls, and sweaters. The patterns range from beginner-friendly to advanced. Each category inside the book Knit Happy With Self-Striping Yarn has at least four designs, with the majority having five.
The author goes into great detail, explaining self-striping yarn and how to swatch with it to achieve the best results from these patterns. The instructions are well-written and go to great length to make sure that they’re understandable.
Favorite Knit Happy with Self-Striping Yarn Patterns
Looking through this book, I haven’t been able to find a single pattern that I dislike. One of my favorites is the Bright Axis Tee (Ravelry Pattern Link, Bright Axis Tee Kit from Must Stash Yarn), a dark-colored tee with a panel of rainbow stripes along the top. I could see myself wearing all of the sweaters, and I don’t think I’ve ever been as pleased with a pattern book as this one.
The sweater patterns have a wide range of sizes, making all designs very inclusive to all different types of bodies. There are six garments in the sweater section, with two of them sized for children. I cannot wait to make a sock arm cardigan for my children and myself.
I would recommend that anyone who is drawn to the allure of self-striping yarn take a look at this book. The patterns show great use for this type of yarn. Even if you don’t favor bright colors, all designs can easily incorporate whatever color palette you enjoy the most.
