The, “There’s No Place Like Home” design is such a pretty hat pattern, and when I saw it on the CozyUp Knits podcast, I knew that I wanted to make it. It’s an easy-to-follow pattern, and the cable carries into the ribbed brim. I used two strands of fingering weight yarn from Neighborhood Fibre Co that I held double. Doing this works perfectly for this pattern, and the finished item fits me well.
I was able to finish this hat in about a day of knitting. The pattern was quickly memorizable, though the yarn I used was slick and did not allow for cabling without a cable needle. Holding the yarn double made it work up reasonably fast, much faster than a regular fingering weight hat.

I enjoyed following along with this pattern, and I feel like it looks like it’s much more complicated than it was. That gives a lot of bang for your buck, especially with gift knitting. The cables look pretty impressive, and the design flows through the entire hat.
I let my daughter model my hat for pictures. She really likes it, even though it’s slouchy on her. I think it looks cute on her and I love the pompom that I chose. There are a pair of matching mittens that come with the pattern as a set, but I haven’t made them yet.
