Scuse Me, Pardon Me by Fran Carle Knitting Pattern

This yarn came as a kit purchased from The Knitting Place in New York. I am a frequent fan of their podcast, and when I searched for some hats to make my kids. I settled on a gray and light pink version of this kit for my daughter. The colors I bought are not available now, but there are plenty of other color options available.

About the bulky yarn

I cannot tell you what this yarn is, other than it’s bulky and has alpaca. I threw away the tags earlier, the receipt doesn’t say, and I can’t find the particular yarn in my search history. However, it’s soft enough, and the alpaca didn’t bother me much during knitting.

My Daughter wearing her Scuse Me, Pardon Me Hat, brought to you by a kit from The Knitting Place in NY

This hat was great because it took me less than a day to knit. The chart was pretty easy to do, though there are some longer color floats. Being knit in bulky weight makes up for this, though, because it just flies off the needles.

I started the hat with the pink yarn so that the cap would be predominantly in my daughter’s favorite color.  After asking her if she wanted a slouchy hat or a beanie, the ribbing is the pattern’s length for the slouchy version of the hat. She seems pretty happy with the hat overall, but she did mention that it was itchy. Take that as a grain of salt, though, because she was pretty tired (read: grumpy) when she tried it on.

Who should knit the hat pattern?

I could see knitting this pattern over and over and over again for friends and family. If the yarn is itchy, I will swap it out for a different bulky. My favorite part about this hat is how mindless, easy, and fast it is. If you’re looking for a knitting pattern that will make you feel productive in a short amount of time, I recommend trying this one.

The Scuse Me, Pardon Me pattern by Fran Carle would be an easy, bulky weight for a beginner who wants to try out colorwork. There are long floats, but not many of them. The hefty weight of yarn is very forgiving, and you get to watch the pattern grow fast. Try this one if you need a knitting hat design to throw on the needles for a gift.
